Our Story

The story of Fellowship United Methodist Church began in 1881, when a small group of faithful Methodists gathered in Roanoke’s Union Church—“the church on the hill.” Rooted in prayer and community, that gathering planted seeds of love and connection that would grow for generations. As the years passed, buildings were added, locations changed, and names evolved—but the heart of Fellowship remained the same: people united by faith, love, and a shared mission. In every season, this church has embraced change with courage and compassion—relocating, rebuilding, and reaching out—all to lead more people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. From the wheat fields of Denton County to our move to Trophy Club in 1996, Fellowship UMC continues to be a place where people come together to worship, serve, and walk side by side in faith.

Our Beliefs

At Fellowship United Methodist Church, we believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and serves as our primary guide for spiritual growth. We are a United Methodist congregation, affiliated with the United Methodist Church, and our beliefs and practices are shaped by this Wesleyan tradition of faith. We understand God through the work of the Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—and celebrate the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, who came to save the world and restore our relationship with God (John 3:16–17). Through Jesus’ sacrifice, we receive forgiveness and redemption, made possible by God’s prevenient, justifying, and sanctifying grace. Humanity, created in God’s image, is restored to fellowship with God only through this grace. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, who indwells believers, empowers godly living, and grants spiritual gifts as in biblical times. The church, as the body of Christ with Jesus as its head, gathers in faith to celebrate the sacraments of Baptism and Communion—accessible to all through God’s grace—and to live out our calling in the world.

Our Future

Looking ahead, Fellowship United Methodist Church is embracing the opportunities God has placed before us. Guided by our mission of leading more people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and our vision of building a multi-generational community of faith where people are becoming fully developed disciples of Jesus Christ, we strive to create a place where everyone can grow spiritually, serve others, and build meaningful relationships. We are committed to nurturing disciples of all ages, equipping them to live out their faith in everyday life, and expanding our community so more people can experience God’s love and grace.
